Kami Ward

16-2 Assistant Coach

Kami Ward joins the coaching ranks just a few months removed from her graduation from high school. Kami was a standout middle blocker with Notre Dame High School of Sherman Oaks and played for SMBC for four seasons as a junior player before committing to play for 18-1 coach Nabil Mardini as a member of the state-ranked Pierce College Women’s Team. In 2008 she will assist Andre Lennox with the 16-2’s. EMAIL KAMI

Morgan Wijay

14-3 Head Coach

It is her first season with SMBC, but by no means is Morgan Wijay a beginner: she brings an extensive and impressive resume with her and a lifetime of volleyball experience. Some of the many interesting facts about Morgan include: her parents run the powerful Indiana- based WAVE volleyball club, where she herself played and earned several All-County, All- State and All-American awards; she was a 1997 Volleyball Magazine Prep “Fab 50” selection; she earned a scholarship as a setter to the University of Houston; she led UH to four NCAA tournament appearances and a conference championship, and captained the squad in her junior and senior seasons; and she has coached across myriad age levels for WAVE and other elite clubs such as Texas Elite and Texas Tornadoes, watching many players until her tutelage go on to significant collegiate volleyball careers. Bottom line: this young woman knows the sport of volleyball and how to teach it, and makes an excellent addition to the SMBC coaching ranks. She will coach the 14-3 team in 2008. EMAIL MORGAN

Christine Yangsen

12-3 Head Coach

Christine Yangsen returns to the SMBC family in 2008 for her first season as a coach in the 12’s Division. An SMBC alumnus, Christine starred at Chaminade High School as a junior player, earning All-League honors and the “Defensive Player of the Year” award. She continued her success at the collegiate level, where she was named First-Team All- Conference for Moorpark College, which won conference championships in both of her seasons with the team. She joins SMBC this year as coach of the 12-3’s. EMAIL CHRISTINE
