This is Charles’ second year with SMBC, having come to SMBC from SCVC where he coached for five years. He also coached Calabasas High School to 5 league titles in eight years. As a player at Pierce College, Charles won two State Championships in 2000 and 2001. He also coached at Malibu Volleyball Club in 1997 and 1998. Most recently, he led the SCVC 17’s team to the 2006 San Jose No Dinx Qualifier Open Championship match.

Marvin returns for his 2nd year with SMBC. A long-time presence in the Southern California volleyball world, Marvin founded Socal Volleyball Club in 1981, the powerhouse club of the 80’s, and led his teams to perennial top-8 finishes at the JO’s. He is most visible to the volleyball community on the referee stand: he is, to this day, the #1 referee in the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Final Four.

A former SMBC player, David began his SMBC coaching career last spring. He is a local product: at Notre Dame High School he was an All-League and All-Area player; at Pierce College he was starting OH in the 2006 team that finished 3rd in California, and an All-Western Conference and All-State selection.

Kyle is also an SMBC alumni from the 18-Black team coached by Tom Black. Kyle continued his volleyball career at Pierce as setter for the 2006 team that came in 3rd in the California State Championships, himself making 1st team all league. He then transferred to Pepperdine where he is currently on the Men’s team, studying Sports Medicine.

Chris Reyes

15-Black Head Coach


Chris is an SMBC alum (2001-2003) and graduate of CSUN. At Pierce, Chris played on the 2004 and 2006 teams that came in 2nd in California. As Team Captain in 2006, Chris received 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-State honors. Additionally, in 2006 Chris was chosen one of KTLA’s Top 16 Southern California College Students.
